Internet Marketing

SEO is defiantly the cocktail party word out there. It doesn’t matter if your site looks like a million bucks, because as long as it’s not SEO optimized, you’ll have zero traffic. And turns out that even the search engine king can do better on its SEO and internet marketing strategies.

According to an SEO report card  which was issued by Google, the internet leading search engine has a lot of work to do fixing up meta tags, heading tags and basically get an SEO overall checkup.

The report states that many of Google’s products are misread by search engines, have broken links and 404 messages or complicated URLs.

A quick look at the SEO report card can benefit anybody who’s interested in SEO and not just Google employees as it examines important examples and tweaks that can be implemented in any website or blog that’s out there.

So go ahead, take a look at the report and rethink your internet marketing strategy.

The benefits of internet marketing through social media are growing each day. With Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and blogs to Flickr, Delicious, YouTube, Slideshare, Digg and Technorati, there are more opportunities than ever to maximize your company’s visibility through the Internet – and at little or no cost.

Studies have shown that, before social media, the average business could spend $15,000 on a direct mail campaign that would result in 200 new customers. By spending $7,500 on a billboard campaign, a business could expect to gain 300 new customers.

But with social media, you can dramatically increase your company’s returns with little or no monetary investment. It requires only time to build your presence on a platform like Twitter – which can easily score you up to 1,800 new customers.

In this tight economy, human apathy is up, which means that businesses need to reach out and connect with their clients on a personal level. This means humanizing your business’s messages, and building up strong relationships with your customers by listening and communicating, engaging your audience, and building up trust. This strategy is easily achieved through platforms like Facebook and Twitter, which have proven that strong social media relationships convert into sales.

Companies like Ajax Union can help you build up your company’s social media presence and achieve smart internet marketing.

Internet Marketing

In this day and age, people want results fast. Let’s face it, when users Google a product they want to buy right now, they won’t want to wade through pages and pages of results for hours. They’ll tend to pick whatever comes up first, whatever is staring them straight in the eyes.

The best way to get your business on that all-important first page of results on Google is through search engine optimization (SEO). To make your search engine ranking soar, you’ll want to find out what terms customers use to find the product or service you sell. Once you know these keywords, use them on your Web site in page and article titles, repeat them a few times on a page, and build links to keywords within your site.

But be careful: you don’t want to over-optimize your keywords. If you stuff your site with too many keywords and not enough original content, or if you duplicate content, Google may penalize your site’s rankings, and that means an uphill battle to get back to the top.

In short, SEO is simple, yet it’s important to be aware of certain pitfalls.

And companies like Ajax Union can help you with smart internet marketing and keep your business growing.

One of the challenges many people have when making purchases online is being able to quickly and effectively deal with problems. business-planning

Planning is a major component of structuring a strategically successful business.  When starting a business a number of documents come into play including an internet marketing plan, a business plan, a marketing plan, a mission statement, a vision statement, financial plans, etc.  One major step that businesses often don’t take seriously is internet marketing goals and objectives…a major part of smart internet marketing and your internet marketing plan.

The first step is to determine exactly what you expect to get out of your business this year. Setting realistic goals is not only crucial; it’s the most important step.  Additionally, these goals don’t necessarily have to be financial. They should be a mix of financial and non-financial goals to ensure your brand and your product get appropriate exposure.

Here are 3 goals than any business should include in their internet marketing plan.

Goal 1: Increase the number of business leads to generate a return on your investment

Generating leads is the number one way to get your target audience to your website. Whether its actively participating on social media sties or commenting on niche related blogs daily, generating leads should be your number one priority.

Goal 2: Ensure customers have a unique online experience

When online users get to your website what do they see? Is your site just as good as your competitors? Can they find what they need in less than 2 clicks? These questions are imperative to online success because you want your visitors to come back. Repeat visits can help you create a lifetime relationship with your customers.

Goal 3: Develop a strategy to engage visitors

When visitors come to your site and purchase…what’s next? You may have secured their purchase but to keep them informed with any new products or offerings try to get them involved by entering a competition, signing up for a newsletter or subscribing to your  company blog.

These are only 3 goals to include in your internet marketing plan. Stay tuned as next week  as we offer three more goals to consider.  At AnewB marketing our goal is to increase your online presence the right way… that’s what smart internet marketing is all about.

We have all heard that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) keywords can improve your websites’ SEO, increase your search engine ranking and consistently deliver great results for years if done properly.  But how is it done properly? Anyone can pick a few keywords they think will work and try to incorporate those into their site.  However, smart internet marketing tells us to take our time and strategically pick each keyword to ensure success.

When deciding what keywords to uses ask yourself 3 questions:

How Will People Find You?

hide_and_seek
The first step is to write down all the keywords that you feel people will type into search engines when looking for the information or products that you are selling. Don’t Guess! Ask family, friends, and customers which keywords they would use to find your information.  For example you may think that someone would type in “oprah and kelly clarkson” to search for that episode when actually most users are typing in “kelly clarkson on oprah” instead.

Can A Machine Help Me?

Okay, it’s a weird title but it works.  It’s called a computer and the internet. They both can help you pick out keywords by using a tool called a keyword suggestion tool.  SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool is pretty neat.

What’s My Competition Doing?

boxing7507_wideweb__470x4130
You can find out exactly what keywords your competition is using by checking out their website page source.  Most browsers will allow you to go to View and then Page Source and you can view  your competition keywords to see what you are missing.

So remember… smart internet marketing  + smart keywords = amazing SEO

Last week we started the discussion on how on the top of search engines by using smart internet marketing; here’s part 2:

Step 3: Have A Good Website Description
Having a good website description is a key part of Google understanding who you are and where you fit into.  This should also be the first couple of sentences of your body text.

Step 4: Increase your Website Content
No matter what you sell and how many keywords you may use, content always wins.  Make sure that each page of your website has a minimum word count of 300 words.  But don’t overdo it! You also want to make sure that you don’t go over 750 words.

Step 5: Choose Your Website Domain Carefully.
If you sell pink widgets what the point of naming your website www.sellstuff.com?  Name your website www.pink-widgets.com.  Separate your keywords by hyphens and search engines will find you!

Next week, we will explore additional tips about how to increase your search engine ranking and start focusing on smart internet marketing.
